Former Senior Patrol Leader Receives U.S. Naval Academy Appointment

Former Troop 3 senior patrol leader “Mac” Cullen officially received his U.S. Naval Academy appointment from his Blue and Gold Officer, Jared Goodwin’99. The presentation took place at the Elks Lodge, during a Troop 3 Newport Rhode Island Court of Honor.

The setting was appropriate; this Bellevue at Pelham corner of Newport was the site of the Naval Academy during the Civil War. In the park stands a monument to Commodore Matthew Perry, a son of Newport.

Cullen received his USNA offer of appointment in March.
